1. One of my favourite shots from the shoot was printed quite large on the contents page - so I am smiley - the more the better!

  2. Vogue Bans Skinny Models →

There have been constant rumblings about this issue in the past, and even law changes in Israel (see further down this blog), but this stance by a clutch of Vogue editors is a true line in the sand. No more unhealthy eating practises (where visible) will be tolerated and no thin models. They are even shining a torch on the designers and want them to stop creating super-small sample size garments.

  3. CRUISING ALONG
Here’s a link to my latest fashion shoot for The Pulse mag. We got seriously lucky with the shoot falling right in the middle of that summer-esque week, giving me glorious light and blue skies to work with.
Charlotte Turner (Model Team) is one of my favourite models and was especially good at clambering all over the barge while it was moving - it must be her Antipodean roots.
The team did an amazing job and it was such a wonderful time cruising about on the river. I did manage to get off the barge and up onto a bridge at one stage for the shoot’s most iconic shot (IMO) - click on the photo to see the other photos.
Massive thanks to Rachel at The Bridge Inn, Ratho for allowing us to enjoy their barge, which is available for anyone to hire http://www.bridgeinn.com/

  5. Fab Shoot in the States →

I love this Vogue shoot in the states with photographer Matt Hind and model Heidi Harrington-Johnson

  7. Aquascutum go into Administration →

It’s never good news when a big, and very old (160 yrs) brand hits hard times, especially as over recent years their advertising campaigns have held some fantastic images, which I have been drawn to when flicking through Vogue.

Here’s hoping that there is light at the end of the tunnel for the brand and the employees.

  8. Herb Ritts Remembered by Naomi Campbell →

Just a small insight into some of fashion’s most iconic images.

  9. ISRAEL TACKLES EATING DISORDERS

I read in Stylist mag that Israel is passing a law that promises to tackle eating disorders amongst models. Magazines and Newspapers have been banned from using underweight models and will have to alert readers when they have used image manipulation to make male or female models appear thinner.

Models will also need to provide a medical report at the start of each shoot stating that they are not classed as malnourished by World Health Organisation standards.

  10. I’m digging my Catherine Aitken - Harris Tweed - manbag! Makes me look way too cool.

  12. NOTHING BY HALF!! →

You wouldn’t expect Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel to do anything by half, but the scale of this show is just huge and I love the theme and set design too.

I take it models smiling isn’t ‘in’ this year then!

  13. RUMOUR MILL

Looks like I will be getting published again next Sunday. Keep an eye out for Scotland on Sunday’s magazine Spectrum with a truly beautiful fashion shoot we shot just before Xmas.

I love seeing my photos in print, so much better than looking at them on the computer!

  14. MY BIG FAT 2011
I’m not quite sure how I managed to fit all this into 2011, but the date on the camera never lies. Can I just pass on huge thanks to everyone who has helped me this year. With your help I have achieved what I set out to achieve, I reached my goals.
My New Year’s resolution is to build on all this and keep improving and keep learning and above all work with the very best people to pursue my passion for taking striking, memorable images.

  15. H+M blooper? →

Opps, I posted this on my wedding blog initially - maybe not relevant I am thinking!

H+M are big supporters of us Photographers and real-life models, all you need to do is wander round their stores or website to see that.

However, if this is legit, I hope that they have a rethink and only use real life models for things like this. What do you think, Let me know!
